1. Who is allowed to use the Commencement Ticket Exchange?

Anyone who has or needs extra tickets for the Columbia University May 2008 Commencment Exercises may use the Commencment Ticket Exchange. It is open to both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as students from affiliated institutions such as Barnard College, Teachers' College, and the Jewish Theological Seminary. 


2. Why should I use the Commencement Ticket Exchange?

The Commencement Ticket Exchange cuts out all the hard work when giving or looking for extra Commencement tickets! Any student who has extra tickets won't need to print out flyers, buy tape, and spend valuable time in his or her last few weeks at Columbia putting flyers up all around campus. Any student who needs extra tickets can easily find all extra tickets to Commencement in one convenient location, all from the comfort of his or her dorm room (or any computer).

4. What information do I have to provide in order to use the Commencement Ticket Exchange?

If you are posting your extra tickets you will need to provide your name, UNI, dorm/brownstone (or street address if you don't live in the dorms), room/apartment number, and the number of extra tickets you have. You may also opt to provide your cell phone number. If you are looking for extra tickets, you need only get in touch with anyone who has posted via e-mail or phone (if available). 


5. If I am posting my extra Commencement tickets, what personal information will be viewable by site visitors?

All information that you provide when posting your extra Commencement tickets will be available to anyone who visits the site. However, site visitors will have to view your individual posting in order to see your name, UNI, and cell phone number (if you provide it). When viewing the list of all ticket postings, only your residence information will be shown. 


6. Can I use an e-mail address other than my Columbia one?

Sorry! We have to make sure that people who post actually have tickets, and the only way we can do that is by requiring that people who post go to Columbia. Therefore we ask for a UNI, and we send information to that UNI@columbia.edu to make sure it's real and yours. 


7. Am I allowed to sell my extra Commencement tickets?

The Commencement Ticket Exchange is a venue for making your extra Commencement tickets available to the entire campus within the limits of the terms of service. According to the Graduation Zone web site, students are discouraged from selling extra tickets, but may give them away. 


8. Who created the Commencement Ticket Exchange?

The School of Engineering and Applied Science Class of 2008 Council, as a part of its commitment to provide services to benefit members of the SEAS Class of 2008 created the Commencement Ticket Exchange. All members of Columbia University are welcome to use this site, however. 


9. Who supports the Commencement Ticket Exchange?

You can view a list of the student council organizations that support this site here. Columbia University does not officially endorse this site. 


10. Does the SEAS Class of 2008 Council benefit in any way from this site?

In that we are made happier by each student who benefits from having used the Commencement Ticket Exchange (no...really!), sure we benefit from the site, but we don't make any money or receive any sort of compensation from your use of this site if that's what you mean.
